Warhol Foundation Awards $120K to Armory Exhibitions

The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts has awarded the Armory $120,000 to support exhibitions and related programming over the next 2 years. The Armory is the only Pasadena institution to receive a 2015 Warhol Foundation grant, and just one of three Southern California institutions to do so (a sincere congratulations to our Los Angeles colleagues LACE and Clockshop for their awards).

Masks by LA County Inmates Support Teen Internships @ the Armory

These poignant self portraits are from a 2015 Armory exhibition of masks created by adult students from New Opportunities Charter School — a school for LA County inmates who do not have a high school diploma or GED. These masks examine the culture and emotions of incarcerated adults.

Kim Abeles Spruces Up Fig Leaves

With the support of friends, volunteers, and donors, artist Kim Abeles and her team have spent the last several weeks giving a much-needed makeover to one of Pasadena's most unusual and informative public art pieces nearly 14 years after it's installation. Abeles' Illuminated Fig Leaves consists of over 35 laser-cut, metal fig leaves (each measuring 5 feet) that climb the rear exterior walls of the Marriott and the Armory.
