Armory Curates Public Art at Arroyo Seco Weekend

Coachella music festival organizers Goldenvoice will debut the Arroyo Seco Weekend— with three stages of live music along with curated menus from LA’s celebrated restaurants and chefs at the Rose Bowl-adjacent Brookside golf course. Headliners include Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Mumford and Sons, Alabama Shakes, Weezer, and Fitz and the Tantrums, just to name a few.

Armory Awarded Five Grants from California Arts Council Totaling $78,700

This year, the California Arts Council awarded $15 million dollars in grants to a record number of nonprofit arts organizations state-wide, supporting quality programs benefiting California's students, veterans, arts educators, at-risk youth, formerly incarcerated individuals, under-served populations, and communities at large. We are honored to announce that five of those record number of grants—totaling $78,700—were awarded to the Armory in support our exhibition field trips for children, professional development training for public school teachers, and a host of free Armory art education programs at community centers, partner organizations, and juvenile detention centers throughout LA County.

First Lady Michelle Obama Honors the Armory at the White House

Teen photographer Dalon Poole of Pasadena and Executive Director Scott Ward represented the Armory at the White House on November 17 to accept a major award from First Lady Michelle Obama. Since 2006, the Armory’s Art High programs have made free after school art classes and mentorship opportunities readily accessible to local teens at parks, schools, and community centers throughout the region.

Warhol Foundation Awards $120K to Armory Exhibitions

The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts has awarded the Armory $120,000 to support exhibitions and related programming over the next 2 years. The Armory is the only Pasadena institution to receive a 2015 Warhol Foundation grant, and just one of three Southern California institutions to do so (a sincere congratulations to our Los Angeles colleagues LACE and Clockshop for their awards).
