Our workshops are designed for anyone with an interest in learning about contemporary art. We offer classes in a wide spectrum of mediums, including drawing , painting, ceramics, printmaking, photography, stop-motion animation, letterpress, and more. The Armory has classes for all levels of experience and ages. We offer memorable learning experiences for individuals, families and small groups in engaging environments that enable you to have fun and build lasting memories.
The Armory's tuition-based, on-site studio classes encourage children, teens and adults to experience, understand and appreciate contemporary. Many of our studio art classes visit the gallery during the session — artworks in the exhibitions become sources of inspiration when creating art in class. Techniques and ideas used by the exhibiting artists are also learned in some classes. The Armory is committed to hiring dedicated and professional artist/teachers with demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the developmental needs of individuals. It is our goal to provide a nurturing environment in which individuals are given the freedom to express themselves while receiving the necessary tools for creative growth.

We are committed to providing innovative visual arts programs to K-12 students in area schools. Our Schools Programs integrate visual arts with core curricula to help children succeed in school. This interdisciplinary approach fosters learning by teaching students to solve problems by making meaningful connections between the arts and sciences. The Armory Schools Program is taught by professional artists placed directly into schools through customized residencies.
For almost 30 years, the Armory has stayed true to its mission to build on the power of art to transform lives and communities by creating, teaching and presenting the arts. And with your ongoing support and involvement, we’ll continue to provide community-based programs in a safe and creative environment.
The Armory offers professional development programs for educators seeking to increase their knowledge of the arts, and to improve their skills so they can provide quality arts education for students. Armory teaching artists provide intensive mentoring and hands-on instruction in arts education techniques to artists, teachers and administrators, and art-school graduates.
Through a partnership with the Pasadena Unified School District, the Armory receives funding from the U.S. Department of Education to create professional development opportunities for multi-subject elementary school teachers.
