Professional Development

Professional Development at the Armory offers instruction and hands-on experiences in arts education techniques to artists, classroom teachers and school administrators, and art school graduates. In partnership with the Pasadena Unified School District, the Armory is a recipient of a major U.S. Department of Education grant to fund professional development opportunities for multi-subject elementary school teachers to receive intensive mentoring by Armory teaching artists. The goal is for teachers to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality arts education with lasting benefits for their students.

For Artists

We value the unique abilities and skills of artists and we try to help them bring these qualities into the education environment. The Armory offers several opportunities to gain training and experiences as teaching artists. We have a Fellowship program, artist training programs, and extensive ongoing training for faculty members already teaching at the Armory.

For Classroom Teachers

Working with various school districts such as Pasadena Unified and Los Angeles Unified, we provide professional development opportunities to classroom teachers and schools.
