Armory Installational
September 15 October 20
The enormous expanse and gritty factory-like atmosphere of the Gallery
at Armory Northwest has made this space ideal for particularly large
and unconventional artwork. For this purpose, artists were invited
to propose site-specific installations for this group show. Marcos
Lutyens will present a multimedia-based environment that investigates
the "dark" quadrant of the mind, while performance artist
Gina Kuraner carves into living room furniture like a cattle butcher.
Works range from sophisticated video projection to nostalgically
mechanical objects, from design to biology, and from the immense
to the intimate. The participating artists are Steve Appleton, Makeda
Best, Doug Buis, Joyce Campbell, Eileen Cowin, Deb Diehl, Bia Gayotto,
Alexander Kritselis, Gina Kuraner, Marcos Lutyens, Hilary Norcliffe,
Noah Thomas, and Tao Urban.
