V: SYZYGY
March 7 - June 6
Opening reception, Saturday, March 6, 7-9 p.m.
Art in Motion is the University of Southern California School of
Fine Arts‚ international festival of time-based media. For
the second year in a row, this exhibition is presented in partnership
with the Armory. AIM V: SYZYGY presents works that explore the question
of the human/machine "remix." Derived from a Greek root
meaning "yoked or paired," syzygy implies a state of interdependent
duality that speaks to the increasingly chimeric relationship between
human and machine. Art in Motion was founded at the University of
Southern California in 1999 in response to the high volume of new
and innovative art that explored the countless developments in communications
and media technologies. The exhibition will also include screenings
on the video billboards on West Hollywood's Sunset Strip and satellite
lectures and events in Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Cusco, Peru. For
