About
the Artwork: This series of four sculptural columns is a response
to traditional architectural forms. The columns question the
relationship of three-dimensional space by aligning a progressive
series of two-dimensional cast acrylic disks that creates the
columns. The interaction of materials and architecture realign
a more traditional relationship between spatial considerations
and the physicality of the work of art. The formal construction
of the sculpture, and the attributes of natural and non-natural
light, engage the permeable boundaries of the artwork. The viewer
is involved as the artwork’s components interact
with each other across space, responding to its architectural surroundings
and back to the materials.
