INLAND
SPECIFIC
September 17 - December 31, 2000
Linda Centell, curator
Inland Specific is a collaborative exhibition of site-specific installations
in six public exhibition spaces throughout the San Gabriel Valley.
During the last several decades an increasing number of important
young artists have moved into this region of Southern California.
This has been in great part due to two prestigious graduate art
schools that are located here. All artists included in the exhibition
live or maintain a studio in the San Gabriel Valley. The participating
institutions are the Armory; Claremont Graduate University; Art
Gallery, Pasadena City College; Montgomery Gallery, Pomona College,
Claremont; Harris Gallery, University of La Verne; and the Wignall
Museum and Gallery, Chaffey College, Rancho Cucamonga.
Artists
presented at the Armory include Edgar Arceneaux, Byoung, Lisa Mann,
Nancy Monk, Laura Parker, Ashley Thorner and Shirley Tse. Most of
these artists have a strong relationship with the Armory, either
by having their art in our past exhibitions or by having taught
in Armory programs.
