DigitalForum: Martin Kersels: Pink Constellation

The second installment of DigitalForum, the Armory’s ongoing series of outdoor publicly screened videos, features Los Angeles-based artist Martin Kersels’ video Pink Constellation (2001). Featuring Kersels’ mechanized sculpture, Tumble Room, created to resemble a young girl’s room with its requisite pink décor and stuffed toys, the video—part performance, part fantasy—captures a lithe young woman gracefully dancing on the walls and ceiling amidst the room’s furnishings. Eventually her performance is followed by footage of the artist, a large-framed figure, navigating the same room in which objects tumble and fall around him.
