Su8.1 Myths from Around the World
Students will read myths from around the world and give life to ancient
characters in this drama and movement class.
Ages 3-4 / Grace Lacques
Su8.2 Cars,
Planes & Rockets
Students will look at cars, planes and rockets and the environments they
travel in: racetracks, freeways, cities, sky and outer space. They’ll
learn about movement, transportation and design.
Ages 5-6 / Nicola Vruwink

Su8.3 Drawing & Painting
Students will learn the basics of drawing and painting. While experimenting
with color theory and mixing paint, they’ll use various materials
to paint with and paint on.
Ages 7-9 / Chelsea Dean
Su8.4 Burnishing
Students will create ceramic pieces that will be burnished and fired
in sawdust to create unusual glaze surfaces. A barbecue will be used
as a kiln.

Su8.5 All About Trees
Students will use tree branches and leaves for inspiration as they make
sculpture, collage and colorful paintings.

Su8.6 Wearable Art
Students will use their imagination to make wearable creations. Using
paint, paper and other materials, they’ll make sculptural costumes
from crazy crowns to inventive machines.

Students will explore the wacky side of science through silly and messy
art projects. They’ll create sculptures out of candy, explode
volcanoes, make papier-mâché planets and zooming paper
airplanes.

Su8.8 Fantastic Freaks
Students will examine natural oddities of nature, fantasy creatures,
cyborgs and hybrids. They'll create 2-D and 3-D mythical beasts that
transform and evolve to our changing environment.
Ages 7-9 / Malisa Humphrey
Su8.9 Learning to Draw
Students will learn the basics of drawing. With a variety of mark-making
techniques from calligraphic to gestural, they’ll use both expressive
and abstract styles and learn to think creatively when it comes to
drawing.

Su8.10 Paint It!
No art will leave without paint on it! Students drip, layer, splatter
and mix paint making paintings of many shapes and sizes. They’ll
create forms out of many materials, then paint them.
Ages 3-4 / Quinton

Su8.11 Furry Creatures
Students will create their own fur costume while learning about personas
by developing their own characters. They'll construct an elaborate
foam and fur costume, transforming themselves into a furry creature
with paws and more.
Ages 5-6 / Malisa Humphrey
Su8.12 Mysteries & Mazes
Students will make mysterious artwork with secrets to unlock and challenges
to solve. They’ll use paint, clay and other materials to create
art that will keep the viewer guessing.
Ages 6-8 / Patricia Liverman
Su8.13 Stop Motion Animation
Students will be introduced to basic animation concepts, using techniques
of stop motion animation. They’ll animate objects, sand, clay
and their own bodies to produce a stop motion video.
Ages 7-9 / Anna Huff

Su8.14 Sewing As Art
Students will create wall pieces and sculptures, combining traditional
sewing materials and art supplies. Using thread as “pencils” and
fabric as “paint” they’ll create layered paintings
and sculptures of abstract and everyday things.
