Su8.15 Growing Gardens
Students will explore plants, insects and flowers that make gardens colorful
and magical as they grow! They’ll create a variety of artwork
using paint, clay, paper and more.

Su8.16 Dance & Art
Students will explore patterns of time, space and rhythm through creative
movement and mixed-media art projects.
Ages 5-6 / Sandy Biery
Su8.17 Material Mash Up!
Students will create diverse works of art from a wide variety of mediums,
including paintings, collage, clay, drawings and printmaking. Students
are encouraged to use multiple techniques to mix up their creations!

Su8.18 Learning to Paint
Students will learn the basics of painting: composition, color mixing,
primary and secondary colors and complimentary colors. They’ll
use various mediums such as watercolor, tempera and acrylic to create
work in both expressive and abstract styles.

Faces, Friends & Family
Students will learn to express themselves with paint, clay and found
objects as they read and share stories about families and friends.
They’ll make pictures of themselves and their family, including
the furry members.

Students will look at the lives and habits of animals while learning
to paint, sculpt and draw using lots of materials.

Su8.21 Painting Stories
Students will read stories and create their own pictures. Then they’ll
make paintings and sculptures using an array of materials.

Powers & Magical
Objects
Students will look at magical objects and secret powers found in stories
and characters. They’ll use art materials to make magic hats
and wands, secret maps and magical creatures.

Su8.23 Experimental Drawing
Students will explore a variety of mark-making techniques from calligraphic
to gestural. They’ll use expressive and abstract styles and learn
to think creatively in terms of drawing.

Students will look at their favorite superheroes and make up some of
their own. They’ll make superhero costumes and imaginary lands
where their superheroes live.

Create fantastic lands with never before seen plants and animals. Students
will even create the maps to get them there.

Movie Making
Students will explore fairytales, mythical creatures and dream worlds
and then make a movie that is our own magical story. They'll learn
about directing, writing, acting, being part of a camera crew and costume
design.

Students will learn hand-building techniques and incorporate materials
to create sculptures, making functional and decorative art. Each class
offers new experiences and projects so students can take this class
more than once.

Su8.28 Sculptural Self-Portraits
Students will investigate sculpture and different sculptors who have
made self-portraits from ancient times to the present. They’ll
learn to work with clay, papier-mâché, plaster casting
and basic armature building.

Gardens & Fairies
Discover magical lands and create mythical plants and fairies with lots
of materials. We’ll make fairy houses and other fantastic things.

Su8.30 Art in a Box
Students will start with boxes and turn them into art that tells stories
in a miniature stage-like setting. They’ll explore 2-D and 3-D
materials as well as recycled and found objects.
Ages 5-6 / Sandra Gallegos
Su8.31 Comic Book Art
Students will explore the world of superheroes and fantasy landscapes.
They’ll invent characters, cities, stories and create finished
comic books.
Ages 6-8 / Michael Markowsky

Su8.32 Eco-Art
Go green! Students will learn about sustainability by making art that
reduces their carbon footprint. They'll use natural materials and recycled
paper to create artworks about alternative energy and the impact of
individual carbon footprints on the world's natural ecosystems. Natural
dyes, inks, charcoal and other recycled materials will be used.
Ages 7-9 / Christopher Michlig
Su8.33 Stop Motion Animation
Students will be introduced to basic animation concepts, using techniques
of stop motion animation. They’ll animate objects, sand, clay
and their own bodies to produce a stop motion video.
