8:30 – 10 a.m.
Su8.53 Big Paintings
Students will explore line, color and shape on a large scale. They'll paint with watercolor, tempera, chalk, and other materials making paintings that start small and move to really BIG!

Su8.54 Whirligigs & Gizmos
Wiggling, buzzing, hopping fun with art creations that move. Using simple machines and lots of imagination students will create robots, whirligigs, wobbling creatures and drawings that buzz and move.
Ages 5-6 / Melissa Manfull

Su8.55 Fun with Drama
Students will explore theatrical expression through games, movement and improvisation. Using movement, feelings and voice, they’ll develop characters and learn to express themselves in a theatrical way.
Ages 7-9 / Grace Lacques

Su8.56 Drawing Optical Illusions
Students will learn to draw objects and places in a realistic way. The art term trompe l'oeil means to trick the eye. Using basic drawing skills they’ll learn how to make images pop off or sink into the paper and create the illusion of space.

Su8.57 Colorful Mosaics
Students will make mosaic patterns and pictures from all kinds of materials and papers. They’ll make pictures with buttons, Styrofoam, clay and more.

Students will explore patterns of time, space and rhythm through creative movement and mixed-media art projects.
Ages 5-6 / Sandy Biery

Su8.59 Wonders of the World
Students will learn about wonders of the ancient world and why they are considered wonders. They’ll create wonders of their own with clay, wood and paper. This class encourages students to look at engineering and architectural feats while making their own structures.
Ages 6-8 / Asad Faulwell

Su8.60 Mobiles & Floating Worlds
Students will learn to design and construct floating sculptures using a variety of materials such as recycled objects and 3-D drawings.
Ages 7-9 / Melissa Manfull

Su8.61 Fun with Self-Hardening Clay
Students will learn various techniques of working with self-hardening clay. They’ll make vessels, animals, jewelry and more.
Ages 9-11 / Patricia Ferber

12:30 – 2 p.m.
Su8.62 Things with Wings
Students will explore the world of things that fly. They’ll draw, paint and sculpt birds, bugs and insects and do some movement activities too.

Su8.63 Race to Outer Space
Visit the sun, moon, planets and stars. Students will build a rocket to explore imaginary galaxies where they’ll use many materials to make their own solar system.

Su8.64 Find the Animals in Art
Students will look at different ways artists draw, paint and sculpt animals in art. They’ll read and create stories about their favorite animals and memorialize them in art.

Su8.65 Mythical Beasts & Cosmic Creatures
Students will explore legendary creatures from ancient civilizations and myths, like the Cyclops and Griffin. Students will learn how fact and fiction mix to become myths, as they paint, sculpt and create stories and masks.

Su8.66 Ceramics: Inside & Out
Students will explore the difference between inside and outside by using clay hand-building techniques such as coiling, pinching and slab building to make geode bowls, architectural teapots and vegetable mugs.

Su8.67 Art for Girl Bands, Rappers & Rock Stars
Students will write, record and remix their own music using GarageBand, plus design their own band’s visual identity including band posters and CD covers.

Su8.68 Puppets
Students will learn about the world of puppets using various materials. Creations include sock, finger and paper bag puppets. Students will tell puppet stories and learn puppet history.

Su8.69 Astonishing Artwork
Students will learn about artists whose artwork defies reality. Using common materials, such as toothpaste, food, dryer lint and more, students will transform materials into the most uncommon creations.
Ages 5-6 / Matt MacFarland

Su8.70 Weird & Wondrous Movie Making
Students will explore fairytales, mythical creatures and dream worlds and then make a movie that is a magical story. They'll learn about directing, writing, acting, being part of a camera crew and costume design.
Ages 6-8 / Anna Huff

Su8.71 Global + Local
Students will look at the geography and topography of our world. Using many materials they will make maps and sculptural projects influenced by landscape, architecture, 3-D maps and globes. They’ll learn where spatial representation and art meet.
Ages 7-9 / Christopher Michlig

Su8.72 Stop Motion Animation
Students will be introduced to basic animation concepts, using techniques of stop motion animation. They’ll animate objects, sand, clay and their own bodies to produce a stop motion video.
Ages 9-11 / Michael Markowsky
