Su8.159 Animals on Parade
Students will create animal masks and explore these animals through theater
games and exercises. Wearing animal masks, they’ll go on parade
and show off their characters.
Ages 3-4 / Grace Lacques
Su8.160 Mad Scientists
Students will explore the wacky side of science through silly and messy
art projects. They’ll create sculptures out of candy, explode
volcanoes, make papier-mâché planets and zooming paper
airplanes.
Age 5-6 / Quinton Bemiller
Su8.161 Comic Book Art
Students will explore the world of superheroes and fantasy landscapes.
They’ll invent characters, cities, stories and create finished
comic books.
Ages 7-9 / Matt MacFarland

Students will be introduced to the basic concepts of photography from
sunprints and photograms to building their own pinhole cameras. They’ll
learn how the photographic process and the reproduction of visual pictures
have developed and changed through time.

Drip, drop and drizzle, students will use the painting techniques of
Jackson Pollock to create big art. They’ll paint using fun materials
like branches and fruit and explore odd colors, patterns and shapes.

Dance & Art
Students will explore patterns of time, space and rhythm through creative
movement and mixed-media art projects.
Ages 5-6 / Sandy Biery

Kites, Planes & Rockets
Students will learn to make sophisticated paper airplanes, kites that
fly and rockets that blast as we explore the world of flight and aerodynamics.
Ages 6-8 / Naomi Buckley
Su8.166 Things that Bite
From dogs to alligators, students will explore things that bite. Using
drawing, painting and mixed-media, they’ll make snapping creations.
Watch out for sharp teeth.
Ages 7-9 / Jesse Benson
Su8.167 Caricature Drawing
Students will learn the basics of drawing portraits and how to exaggerate
details of the human face and body for comedic effect.
Ages 9-11 / Matt MacFarland

Students will use an array of materials to make magic wands, wizard hats
and their own magic words. Don’t miss the magical experience.
Ages 3-4 / Patricia Liverman

Students will explore the world of color through a variety of projects
and materials, including soft sculpture, paintings and collage.
Ages 5-6 / Amy Mauck
Su8.170 Art that Moves
Students will get in step with moving art while they make art that travels,
flips, pops and spins. They’ll use various materials to keep
their art moving.
Ages 6-8 / Jesse Benson
Su8.171 Ceramics
Students will learn hand-building techniques and incorporate various
materials to make sculptures, creating functional and decorative art.
Each class offers new experiences and projects so students can take
this class more than once.
Ages 7-9 / Elonda Billera

Su8.172 Layered Landscapes
Students will investigate the genre of landscapes from a sculptural focus.
They’ll learn about types of landscapes; desert, Mars, the moon
and the icy Arctic. They’ll build a collage landscape including
trees, waterfalls, rocks and mountains.

Su8.173 Colorful Mosaics
Students will make mosaic patterns and pictures from all kinds of materials
and papers. They’ll make pictures with buttons, Styrofoam, clay
and more.
Ages 3-4 / Chelsea Dean

Su8.174 Ancient Architecture
Students will learn about architecture by looking at ancient and contemporary
structures. They’ll build their own buildings, monuments, temples
and houses.
Ages 5-6 / Nicola Vruwink

What’s
That Crazy Thing
Cats with wings? A dog-i-gator? Students will use their wildest imaginative
powers to dream up odd animals and make fun, interesting creatures
while learning to juxtapose ideas and materials.
Ages 6-8 /Sandra Gallegos
Su8.176 Stop Motion Animation
Students will be introduced to basic animation concepts, using techniques
of stop motion animation. They’ll animate objects, sand, clay
and their own bodies to produce a stop motion video.
Ages 7-9 / Michael Markowsky
Su8.177 Poster Design
Students will explore the history, purpose and function of posters. From
advertisements to propaganda to announcing concerts and shows, posters
have provided valuable mass communication and a well-known form of
art. Students will design and create posters in marker and acrylic
paint.
