Teaching Artist Fellowship Opportunity
APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED THROUGH JUNE 21
Applications are now being accepted for the 2019-2020 cohort of paid Armory Teaching Artist Fellows. Founded in 1989, Pasadena's Armory Center for the Arts is a nonprofit and community-based leading institution for contemporary art exhibitions and community arts education. Armory Center for the Arts’ nationally-recognized, award-winning art classes for children, teens, adults, and families are taught by professional, rigorously trained educators who are also practicing artists.
Fellows will participate in a nine-month training and teaching experience at the Armory Center for the Arts. This will include learning how to develop innovative gallery touring and teaching techniques within the context of a contemporary art exhibition space, and a studio setting for a broad range of participants (Preschool through High school students). The Fellows participate in a series of training workshops throughout the first three-months, which focus on learning art education pedagogy, learning theories, and interactive teaching methods. Fellows also receive one-on-one guidance by experienced mentor teaching artists who teach in the Armory’s field trip, schools, community, and studio programs.
