Join Irene Tsatsos, the Armory's Director of Exhibition Programs/Chief Curator, as we explore Mexico City’s rich contemporary art culture. Irene will give you a curator/artist’s view of the city and you will learn first-hand about her research for the Getty’s forthcoming Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA initiative and her upcoming exhibition, Below the Underground: Renegade Art and Action in the 1990s Mexico. With behind-the-scenes tours of museum collections, special visits to galleries, and meetings with prominent artists, you will get an inside glimpse into why The New York Times puts Mexico City in the #1 spot of cities to visit in 2016.
Your itinerary includes lively conversations and private tours with artists and curators at alternative spaces, galleries, and museums. Stay at the gorgeous Camino Real Polanco, the historic hotel designed by internationally acclaimed architect Ricardo Legorreta. Indulge in the sophisticated and diverse food of Mexico at a range of wonderful restaurants. The operational needs of this tour will be met by ArtsAbroad, a UK-based company with extensive experience in Mexico City as well as with clients in the Los Angeles area.
