Habits of Mind: The Armory Fellows Exhibition is the culminating exhibition from artists selected for the Armory Center for the Arts’ 2011 Teaching Artist Fellowship program.
Habits of Mind is an exhibition of new art by the current group of Armory Fellows (current M.F.A. students and post-grads). The exhibition includes paintings, digital prints, installations and sculpture by Armory Fellows Ashley Landrum, Justin Lowman, Melanie Moore, Tracy Nakayama, Josh Peters, Crossman Wilkins, and Jacob Yanes.
Exhibition curator Lorraine Cleary Dale organized the exhibition around the “eight studio habits of mind” as outlined in the book Studio Thinking: The Real Benefits of Visual Arts Education (2007). This exhibition draws upon the parallels of the art making and teaching practice.
The Armory’s Teaching Artist Fellowship Program is a competitive, ninemonth teacher training experience tailored specifically for working, contemporary visual artists.
