Teaching Artist Denise Figueredo featured in the book The Vandercook 100

One of our most popular classes has always been Letterpress taught by our Director of Letterpress Denise Figueredo. We want to extend our congratulations to Denise who was selected to be featured in the new publication The Vandercook100 celebrating 100 artists who own and operate the Vandercook press, on the 100th anniversary of the press.

Denise Figueredo was born and raised in Los Angeles, Calfornia. She became fascinated with the field of Letterpress printing in 1994. It was at this time that she began a six and a half year apprenticeship at a press in Upland, California. Congruently, Denise earned both her degrees: a BFA in Mix Media Sculpture and Art History from Pitzer College and a MFA in 3D Media: Fiber from California State University Long Beach. She has been a Lecturer at California State University Long Beach since 2001. Denise opened her own Letterpress Studio, Figgy Press in 2002 in Long Beach, California. Denise has been the Director of the Letterpress at the Armory Center for the Arts for the past 10 years.

It is a beautiful book and we are so proud of her. The book is available at Amazon.
