The Public Bench Project completed by Washington Middle School & Armory Center for the Arts

A set of benches were recently created by two groups of 7th grade students who participated in the Armory’s visual art classes offered at Washington Middle School during the fall semester 2011. Guest Teaching Artist, Stan Edmonson, worked with the students in developing ideas that would reflect their perceptions and feelings about their school through photography and collages. The creation of a public art piece was to develop students’ artistic skills, learn about developing a project from conception to execution while beautifying the school environment to create a legacy for the school.
