Masks by LA County Inmates Support Teen Internships @ the Armory

These poignant self portraits are from a 2015 Armory exhibition of masks created by adult students from New Opportunities Charter School — a school for LA County inmates who do not have a high school diploma or GED. These masks examine the culture and emotions of incarcerated adults. The mask's outside represents how the inmates think others see them, the inside view (which is secret) represents how the inmates view themselves.
