Silkscreening & T-Shirt Design

Learn about quick and easy ways transfer pictures using silkscreening, a process made famous by artists like Andy Warhol. Bring in your own t-shirts, sweatshirts, fabric, wood, paper, or any other flat materials, and be ready to transform them into works of art! We’ll be using several DIY techniques to create amazing prints. We’ll discuss the art and the biz of printing as well.

Modernizing the Art of Embroidery

Learn embroidery and needle craft techniques as you complete several personalized projects using both traditional and experimental materials. You’ll incorporate text and language, landscape and natural imagery, decoration and formal notions, using the media to express a broad range of complex ideas. No experience is necessary, but advanced students will be able to challenge themselves both materially and conceptually. Art inspiration: Tracey Emin, Kazuhito Takadoi and Andrea Dezsö.

Learn how to use the potter’s wheel as well as hand-building techniques with high and low fire clay. Experiment with methods of glazing and different types of surface textures. If you’re advanced, instruction focuses on slip trailing, wax resist, printing and carving.

Book Arts
10:00 am-4:30 pm (1 Day Only)

This one-day workshop introduces the history and basic structures of artist books—ranging from traditional to experimental. Create books from DIY chapbooks, personal journals, scrapbooks, or even as gifts for friends and family. Projects may include: accordion books, Japanese stab binding, tunnel books, and more. Bring your own quotes, short poems, or images and craft multiple books during the day to get a taste of the joy that is book arts. Space is limited to 12.
