Virtual ArtNight Pasadena

Dates: Friday, Oct 23, 2020
Time: 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM

It's the 20th anniversary of ArtNight Pasadena! Join us for a virtual celebration with your favorite ArtNight partner organizations as we come together as a community for an exciting line up of art experiences, music, panel discussions, screenings, theater performances, and more.

The Armory's offerings include live-streamed art workshops with our Teaching Artists and a live weaving performance at 8:00 PM by Tanya Aguiñiga direct from her exhibition in our Caldwell Gallery.

Also on the bill is a virtual exhibition of artwork made by our teen students, plus special music sets by Los Jornaleros del Norte — a sextet comprised of day laborers that formed in 1995 after an ICE raid at a free mobile health clinic event sponsored by LA County. The band’s purpose is to inform, educate, organize, and mobilize day workers, sensitize the general community about day labor related issues, and denounce the abuses committed against them.

Live-Streamed Art Workshops

Kids weaving

Paper Weaving Workshop
For Families (Ages 5 +)
6:30 to 7:30 PM

Join us for a one-hour paper weaving workshop led by Armory Teaching Artist Danielle Katsumi Stolz. This family workshop is recommended for students ages 5 and up and will be held on ZOOM. Danielle will teach us some fun drawing exercises, and then how to create our very own paper weave out of them! After you have learned to create your own weave, tune in to Facebook Live at 8:00 PM to see artist Tanya Aguiniga's live weaving performance, and see how the art weaving can be used in many interesting ways.

We recommend having these supplies ready to work with at the start of the workshop:

White paper (copy paper works fine) x 2

Scissors

Drawing materials

Tape

3 objects found within your home
